The exception of course is in the various forms of 'fiddle orchestra' which have sprung up - for obvious reasons.Ģ.

Fiddlers embellish tunes according to how they feel at the time and frequently throw in improvisations. A fiddler would never, ever, talk about a 'wrong' version of a tune (unless of course it had just gone right over the edge).

There are a few of curious things I've noticed - which I'm mentioning just in case people find them interesting.ġ. I play pipes and fiddle (a fairly common combination in the West of Scotland where I was brought up). My instructor used to say that pipers should listen to fiddlers, fiddlers should listen to flute players and flute players should listen to pipers. This is one of the few tunes where I won't say a version is wrong if it's played well and cleanly.Interesting guidance from your instructor.
